Utopia

A bubble home screen for Android

Utopia is a home screen for Android where every app is a glossy, floating bubble. The bubbles drift, bounce off the walls and off each other, and a held bubble shoves its neighbours aside. Open an app and its bubble pops, then re-forms.

What it does

  • Real-bubble lookMoving thin-film colour, window reflections and soft shadows, with a pop when an app opens.
  • Sixteen wallpapersDrawn in code, so they stay sharp on any screen. Four are live: Digital Rain, Bubble Stream, Lava Lamp and Starfield.
  • Themes and icon stylesTheme presets, several glass colours, light and dark modes, and three icon styles. Nova and ADW icon packs work too.
  • Search, dock and foldersA filterable list of every app, a favourites dock, folders, hidden apps and notification dots.
  • Light on your batteryPerformance levels (Auto, High, Balanced, Lite) and a field that stops drawing when it is idle.
  • SoundPops, bloops and soft bumps, all synthesised in code. Silent on vibrate.
  • Private by designNo broad app-list permission is requested, and notification access only keeps counts.
