Geo Rival Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Geo Rival is a virtual reality geography game for Meta Horizon OS headsets, made by Heion Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the game handles, why, and how you can have it deleted. We are the data controller for the data described here.
What data the game handles
| Data | Where it comes from | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Meta user ID, display name and Meta Avatar | Meta Horizon, with your permission | To show you and other players by name and avatar in multiplayer games, and to attach your scores to the leaderboards. |
| Friends list and blocked users | Meta Horizon, with your permission | To let you invite friends to a private party, show friends-only leaderboards, and avoid matching you with players you blocked. We do not store these lists. |
| Game scores, results and achievements (Daily Challenge, Country Streaks, milestones) | Your play | To show leaderboards, achievements and your own stats. Meta leaderboard scores and achievements are held by Meta; the daily Daily Challenge leaderboard (your display name and score, cleared every day) is held by Unity Leaderboards. Your settings are saved only on your headset. |
| Your public player profile: display name, Meta user ID, games played, average score and distance, best scores, your last 10 games (mode, score, date), your Passport (stamped countries and how many countries you have visited), your best Country Streak and your Daily Challenge streak and latest daily score | Your play | Profiles are public: any Geo Rival player can open yours (from match results, the Daily leaderboard or their friends list) to compare scores, and your Meta friends who play can find it. It is stored by Unity Cloud Save and updated after your games. Email us to have it deleted. |
| Geo Rival friends: friend requests, your friends list, players you block, and whether you are online | You, when you add, accept, remove or block someone | To let you add other players as friends, see when they are online, and block players. Stored by Unity Friends. |
| Multiplayer lobby information (player ID, display name, IP address) | Your headset, while you are in an online game | To connect players to the same game. This is handled by Unity Gaming Services (Lobby, Relay, Authentication). Unity retains these records for up to 30 days. |
| Explore with friends: the place you are viewing (its map position), the direction you are looking, your avatar's movement, and follow requests | Your headset, while you are in Explore with other players | So players in the same Explore can see where you are on the map, see your avatar beside them when you stand in the same place, go to you, and follow you if you accept. Shared only with the players in that Explore, through Unity Lobby and Unity Relay; avatar movement is streamed live and not stored. It stops when you leave Explore. |
| Your activity for friends ("Exploring" and roughly where) | Your headset | So your Geo Rival friends can see that you are exploring, where on the map, and join you. Shared through Unity Friends. Turn on "Appear offline" (Settings → General, or the Friends screen) to hide this; nobody can then see you online or join your Explore. |
| Voice chat audio (only if you turn voice chat on) | Your headset's microphone, with your permission | To let you talk live with other players in the same online game: friends in a Party room, and strangers in matchmade games only if you turn on "Voice with strangers". Audio is streamed in real time by Unity Vivox and is not recorded or stored by us. You can turn your microphone off, mute any player, mute everyone, or turn voice chat off at any time in Settings → Voice chat, the pause menu or the wrist menu. |
| Map and Street View requests (the location being shown, your IP address) | Your headset | To load Street View and map imagery from Google Maps Platform through our own request relay on Cloudflare. We do not store these requests or build profiles from them. Imagery is not saved after you leave a round. |
What we do not collect
- Hand tracking is used on your headset only to control the game. Hand tracking data is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- In the menus the game shows your real room (passthrough) and, with your permission, reads your headset's room scan (spatial data: where your walls are) so the menu never sits inside a wall. This happens only on your headset; spatial data and camera images are never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- The game does not record camera images or microphone audio. The microphone is used only for live voice chat when you have turned it on; nothing you say is saved by us.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share data with
- Meta, which provides your account, avatar, friends and leaderboards under Meta's Privacy Policy.
- Unity Technologies (Unity Gaming Services: Authentication, Lobby, Relay, Leaderboards, Cloud Save and Friends; and Vivox), which runs online multiplayer connections, leaderboards, public profiles, friends and live voice chat for us as a service provider. See Unity's Privacy Policy.
- Google (Google Maps Platform) and Cloudflare, which deliver map and Street View imagery. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Other players in your online game see your display name and avatar. Players in the same Explore also see where you are and which way you are looking, and your friends see that you are exploring (unless you appear offline).
We have not received requests from public authorities for user data. We will share data when required by law.
Deleting your data
To ask us to delete data we hold about you, email hello@heionlabs.com from the address you want us to look up, with your Meta display name. We will reply within 30 days. Data held by Meta (your account, avatar and leaderboard entries) can be managed in your Meta account settings. You can delete scores and settings saved on your headset by uninstalling the game.
Age
Geo Rival is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If we change what the game collects, we will update this page and the date above.
